AIPS (Artificial Intelligence in Professional Society) is a student led initiative that explores how AI is transforming real workplaces, not just classroom assignments. Founded by David Ulmer Jr. at State College Area High School, AIPS brings together students who are curious about how tools like ChatGPT, data analytics, and automation can support business, entrepreneurship, STEM, and service in ethical and practical ways.
At its core, AIPS focuses on three things: understanding how AI works at a high level, experimenting with real use cases, and thinking critically about the impact of these tools on people, jobs, and communities. Instead of treating AI as a buzzword, the club treats it as a skill set and mindset that students can start developing now and carry into college and their careers.
Through AIPS, students have the opportunity to:
- Build practical workflows that use AI for research, writing, design, and problem solving
- Connect AI to career fields, including business, healthcare, engineering, education, and entrepreneurship
- Discuss ethics and policy, such as bias, privacy, and responsible use in schools and organizations
- Collaborate on projects, like AI powered tools for student leadership, FBLA events, and community outreach
As the founder, David focuses on designing meetings that feel like a mix of lab, workshop, and think tank. AIPS is still growing, but its goal is clear: help students become the kind of leaders who can use AI thoughtfully, build new ideas with it, and ask the right questions about its impact on the world.
